Do you remember how heavy those balls got when they were wet? You wouldn't be allowed to head that ball nowadays, health & safety would call the game off!

If you want to explain to a youngster what football used to be like in the old days just play them a clip of the Man U semi.

Re: 56 Years Ago Today
Yes FC Kendall was the youngest by a few months but Paul Allen took that title off him in 1980.

I seemed to remember us being favourites as we were 1st division and finished 14th that year.

Don't forget we done Man Utd 3-1 on that Bog at Hillsborough and the week before that game we played them in the league at home and got done 0-2 I was with my Dad and we thought we had no chance in the Semi against these !!

Funny old game.

Re: 56 Years Ago Today
Amazingly although Preston Bell End didn't have Tom Finney, they were still favourites and both teams had at the time, the two youngest ever players to play in the FA cup final, Howard Kendall for PNE and Johnny Sissons for us, I think Kendall was the youngest though?

I was 11 and couldn't go because my dad went with his mates from work. Watched it on tv. Brilliant day. Did go to the ECWC final the next year though. Best night ever.
